At the EuroHPC User Days in Copenhagen, Guy Lonsdale participated in a panel discussion on EuroHPC support services. In his contribution, he introduced the FFplus project and highlighted how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can get involved through open calls — either with sub-projects that utilize High-Performance Computing (HPC) to solve specific business challenges, or by leveraging large HPC systems to advance the development of generative AI on a large scale.

Cross-project collaborations were also discussed. For FFplus, Lonsdale particularly highlighted the central role of national HPC competence centers, which motivate SMEs across Europe and assist them with application submission. The exceptionally high number of submissions in the latest call demonstrated the importance of this work.
