Whether in the automotive sector or in production, simulations and digital twins have become indispensable for many companies. As conventional software is often unable to map highly dynamic processes satisfactorily, researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM have developed a groundbreaking solution: the MESHFREE tool. In contrast to traditional methods, MESHFREE works without a rigid calculation grid and enables the simulation of complex processes with considerable time savings and cost reductions. The developers were awarded the Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize 2024 for this innovative achievement.

Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize
Every year since 1978, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has awarded the Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize to its employees for outstanding scientific achievements in solving application-oriented problems. This year, three prizes of 50,000 euros each will be awarded to groups of researchers from different institutes.
